Boat Ramp Improvement
As part of a Department of Conservation and Recreation Demonstration Grant administered by Melissa Jette of the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, a concrete plank boat ramp system was installed at the boat access at the end of the Creek in 2005. This helps prevent erosion while also making it easier and smoother to launch. Also included in the grant was a kiosk for the distribution of educational literature.
- All trailered boats should be launched using the boat launch at the end of the creek. The boat launch was repaired by the State a couple years ago and is in good shape. More importantly, by launching boats in the creek it helps to minimize the chance of introducing invasive weeds to Big Pond. Even if your boat is only used in Big Pond, please set a good example and launch your boat using the creek.
- The boat launch can be accessed from RT 23 by turning onto Latimer Hill Rd and then staying on the paved road, going straight until the end where the boat launch is located.
