Rest in peace, Buddy Bardsley

The Big Pond Association is sad to inform members of the loss of one of our long time board members who has dedicated many years serving our community.

Buddy Bardsley passed away earlier this week after months of fighting several medical issues. Buddy was a long-time summer resident of Big Pond and a fixture on the Big Pond Association Board of Directors. As a board member Buddy spent much time and effort focusing on issues that affect the water quality of Big Pond and its natural resources. Whenever something needed to be done, Buddy was always ready, willing, and able to pitch in.

Buddy resided right next to the Big Island docks and was both gatekeeper and greeter to the Big Island residents. Everyone on the island looked forward to seeing Buddy as they brought their things down to their boats before heading over to their cottage. He was also instrumental in making certain that boats were not launched by the dock, so as to make certain that invasive weeds were not introduced to Big Pond in that area.

In more recent years, Buddy and Linda became regular patrons of the Shaw Pond Club, where they generally sat at their usual table. There always seemed to be a crowd around the table as Big Pond residents and others would stop by for a chat with Buddy and Linda.

As much as anything, Buddy and Linda enjoyed their cruises around Big Pond and down the creek and back in their pontoon boat that proudly displayed the American Flag flying off of the stern. I know that all of us from time to time will look out over the lake and picture an image of Buddy smiling while cruising down the lake with Linda. Cruise on, Buddy. You will be sorely missed by everyone.
